I was born in Rogers, AR and raised in southwest Missouri.  After graduating high school, I joined the Navy and served as a Hospital Corpsman for four years.  I married my high school sweetheart twenty four years ago.  We have raised four girls and currently have three grandchildren.

After the Navy I entered college and graduated with a BS in Chemistry from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK.  I attended Oklahoma State University for Health Sciences where I obtained my Osteopathic Medical degree.  I then pursued an Anesthesia residency here at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2008.  While in residency I served as chief resident and chair of the ACGME Resident Council.  I discovered a love for academics during this time and decided to pursue a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine.  I graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2013 and entered private practice in Springfield, MO.  I worked in a very busy practice while continuing to look for an academic position.

In 2014 that position opened up here at UAMS.  Since then, I have dedicated my time to improving our intensive care unit and improving our resident education experience.  I’m happy to say we have recently created a new paradigm here and are currently focusing on becoming a center for excellence in critical care.  As Associate Program Director, I have helped our department revise our curriculum to address the needs of current residents.

We are committed to meeting the needs of the residents clinically, educationally and emotionally.  We will continue to improve our process and workflow to balance work/life, as they are both important factors.
