The Burn Center
Arkansas Children’s Hospital Burn Center has been open since 1953. In 2007 the Burn Center at Arkansas Children’s Hospital obtained the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeon’s prestigious verification designations. Currently Arkansas Children’s Hospital is home to the only dedicated Burn Center in the state. The center treats more than 200 severely burned children and adults each year.
Terry Fletcher, MD, PhD and James Hunt, MD serve as Co-Directors of Burn Anesthesiology. The Burn Center Anesthesiology Team focuses specifically on providing anesthesia for burn patients, which better enables them to manage complications unique to them.
The ACH Burn Center also offers many programs to the public. These include Camp Sunshine (a camp for pediatric burn survivors), a Family Support Group (a weekly dinner meeting), and an Annual Golf Tournament.
