The UAMS Anesthesiology Residency Program is designed to fulfill the educational needs of the individual resident who has chosen a career in anesthesiology, by tailoring a clinical and educational experience that will prepare the resident for the career they have envisioned.

Our program is an ACGME-accredited, four-year program (PGY1-PGY4). Each year we match 13 PGY1 residents in the categorical match and one CA1 physician only position, giving our program a total of 55 residents. We recruit locally, nationally and internationally giving us a diverse resident population.

The clinical experience at UAMS is tied to it being a large tertiary care center with approximately 24,000 OR cases per year and Arkansas’s only adult level one trauma center. As well as over 3,000 deliveries per year. We have a full complement of surgical subspecialties that draw medically and surgically challenging cases from both Arkansas and surrounding states, providing our residents with a robust clinical experience that will prepare them for even the most challenging practice opportunities upon graduation. Upon program completion our graduates go on to fellowships, academic appointments and private practice
